GOMBE STATE UNIVERSITY RELEASES APPROVED CUT OFF MARKS FOR 2022/2023 ADMISSION EXERCISE

This is to inform all candidates who have applied for admission into the various degree Programmes of Gombe State University for the 2022/2023 academic session and have made Gombe State University a first choice institution that the cut-off marks for admission into the various faculties are as follows:

(1) Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences - 150 Points and above

(2) Faculty of Education - 150 Points and above

(3) Faculty of Science - 170 Points and above

200 Points and above

(4) MBBS

(5) Pharmacy

(6) Law

Accordingly. Candidates with less than 200 points particularly for Medicine, Pharmacy, and Law Programmes are advised to immediately change to other alternative programs.

Whether the four and a half months old strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would be called off soon now rests on the response of the Federal Government to the demands of the union made through a committee set up by the government to negotiate with it. ASUU TO RESPOND TO FG’S STANCE ON SALARY, OTHERS AT NEC MEETING

The executive members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), led by its President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, is scheduled to meet and discuss the inability of the Federal Government to meet their demands. ASUU NEC is also expected to deliberate on the half salary paid to its members by the Federal Government last month. The meeting is expected to cause palpable tension among university communities. The meeting will take place at the union’s headquarters at the permanent site of the University of Abuja campus. The union’s leadership will address the government’s decision and discuss their potential responses to the development. ASUU STRIKE CAN END TODAY, BUT FG IS NOT READY – FALANA

Human rights activist, Femi Falana, has stated that the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities can be resolved immediately, but the government isn’t ready to do so. Falana made this known on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s flagship programme, Sunrise daily. The federal government had been in disagreement with the striking University body leading to the industrial court ordering the lecturers to return to the classrooms. Despite Justice Polycarp Hamman Wednesday’s ruling, ASUU’s President Professor Victor Osodeke was adamant that the lecturers won’t back down and would appeal the injunction.
