FUTA IGNORES 2022/2023 POSTUTME RESULTS, TO USE O'LEVEL & UTME RESULTS FOR ADMISSION PROCESS

STATEMENT ON THE 2022 POST UTME SCREENING EXERCISE 

The Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA has reviewed its recently concluded Post UTME Screening Exercise held between Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th November, 2022 and hereby makes the following Statement: 

1. After the conclusion of the exercise and painstaking review of the process, it was confirmed that there were some instances of technical glitches which invariably affected the fidelity of score of some candidates; some positively and some negatively. 

2. It was noted that the technical glitches were not enough to invalidate the entire process.

3. However out of abundance of caution, and in order to ensure that no candidate is put at any disadvantage whatsoever, and also to place all candidates on level playing field for the purpose of consideration for admission, the University management has decided that the ongoing admission process will be based on and determined by candidates' UTME Score and SSCE/GCE Results or their equivalents.

4. The University takes full responsibility for the glitches and tenders its unreserved apology.

STRIKE : MOUAU-ASUU REJECTS FG’s NEW SALARY STRUCTURE FOR LECTURERS

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia has described the Federal Government’s Consolidated Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) as “unilateral”, hence unacceptable. The group’s position is contained in a statement jointly issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the union, Michael Ugwuene and Paul Nwiyi, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia on Saturday. The statement is entitled, “Failure of Government: Collective bargaining agreement is the way forward.” It stated that CONUASS awarded increases of 35 per cent and 25 per cent of current salaries to Professors at bar, and other ranks, respectively. ORTOM TO STRIKING ASUU BSU– END SYMPATHY STRIKE OR I'II STOP YOUR SALARIES

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, Monday, threatened to stop paying the salaries of members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Benue State University, BSU, branch if they fail to call off the ongoing sympathy strike with the national body. He noted that the sympathy strike had gone beyond the allowed three days and appealed to the lecturers to return back to the classroom in the interest of Benue children. The Governor who spoke in Makurdi while reacting to appeals by parents and students on the striking lectures to call off the sympathy strike noted that he had ensured the prompt payment of the salaries of the striking lecturers despite their action lamenting that their action was already taking its toll on the students and parents.
